In 2014 the dictator Lukashenko plans to use the reputation of the Ice Hockey World Championship held in Belarus for his personal benefit. I’m asking: which player and which official  who is aware of his social responsibility wants to stand on a podium next to such a merciless despot? The International Ice Hockey Federation should pay respect to the victims of repression and look for another country to host the championship 2014. Especially after the recent executions of two young men right in the heart of Europe. Vladislav Kovalev and Dmitri Konovalov were most likely the innocent victims of a barbaric regime which, after the Minsk subway bombings, was determined to adopt a tough stance and boost flagging support for Lukashenko.
