According to  Süddeutsche Zeitung  the Social Democrats and Green Party in Germany are preparing a  proposal that would ask the German Ice Hockey Federation to demand the IIHF at the annual meeting in Helsinki (17th to 20th May 2o12) to remove the 2014 Ice Hockey World Championship from Belarus. As well,  the Christian Democrats and Free Liberals, both of which are government parties, are not happy with Belarus hosting the championship. “We do not want that the Ice Hockey Championships will be held in Belarus” said Birgit Homburger, Vice President of the Free Liberals’ parliamentary group.
